When using Outlook 2013 on Citrix (or any environment really), running on Windows Server 2012 R2, I noticed that notification toasts for new e-mails are not showing.
I spent hours researching this, even contacted MS Premier support to get it sorted, no luck!
We use GPP (Group Policy Prefrences) to give our users shortcuts to their apps (including Outlook). So in our GPO’s, the setting “User Configuration\AdministrativeTemplates\Start Menu & Taskbar\Remove common program groups from Start Menu”, is set to Enabled to remove items from the users start menu.
While troubleshooting, I disabled this policy, and voila! The toast notifications from Outlook worked!
Spot the difference:
Solution: Copy the shortcut generated when installing Office 2013 into the users startmenu catalog, remove the shortcut from GPP.
